Education in Pakistan
In the area around the city of Hyderabad in Pakistan, fewer than 50% of children are able to attend school. Franciscan Bishop Samson Shukardin organizes literacy programs and schooling in these impoverished areas, as well as first aid training and preventive health care.
Where children haven't learned the alphabet yet
With just €3,000 a year, 30 children can receive classes every afternoon for a year.
To this end, Caritas of the Diocese of Hyderabad engages elementary school teachers who work at their regular schools in the mornings and then, in the afternoons, teach children who cannot attend elementary school because there is no more space or because there are no schools in their poor neighborhoods.
Even a Hindu temple has made its facilities available so that Caritas can hold classes there.
We have committed to providing ongoing support to one of these schools.
